Frequently Asked Questions
What is SeeqPod? SeeqPod is the home for playable search results. SeeqPod's vertically targeted crawlers crawl the deepest parts of the web to enable internet-wide search & discovery of anything that can be played or shared with friends. SeeqPod enables users to search for and discover artists and songs using patented language independent algorithms. Just like Google and other search engines, SeeqPod crawls, indexes, searches and displays search results, and anyone can submit URLs to be crawled and indexed. SeeqPod looks to broaden its reach to provide a wider range of search results. In addition to Playable Search it has created search verticals for Finance and Wikipedia, and plans to explore other verticals as well. SeeqPod understands that today and in the future search results need to be played in order for a user to determine if they're relevant. Where do the playable search results come from? It's a well known fact now that the Internet has a growing inventory filled with all kinds of playable search resutls. Many of these playable search results cannot be found anywhere else except the Internet such as user generated news videos, podcasts, mashups, mixes, music and multimedia of all kinds. It is critically important as a matter for Free Speech that people have access to content on the Internet that cannot be found anywhere else. At SeeqPod we crawl the entire world wide multilingual deep web in the vertical space of entertainment for the purpose of new kinds of playable search, discovery, recommendation and social experiences. In addition, as people publish to the Internet, other people might submit these URLs to SeeqPod in addition to other search engines such as Google or Yahoo. This is done using the "Submit Site" link. You can even submit a location of playable search resutls we have not yet found and they will soon show up in the PodCrawler and search index. What is the "PodCrawler"? The PodCrawler is a direct window into the activities of the SeeqPod search engine crawling architecture. As new links to digital content are located, they are validated and added to the searchable index, making them available as playable search results. The PodCrawler scrolling display shows descriptions of the links to digital content as they are being located by the SeeqPod search engine crawling system. How do the discoveries work and what are they based on? The Discovery engine generates related search results for the query entered in the search box. Potential discoveries are enabled by our patented language independent algorithms that analyze and mimic the way people make associations and construct rich context. This is done by using a biomimetic approach revealing direct, indirect & hidden connections between different objects. What can I search for at SeeqPod? You can search for most anything such as playable search results including video, slideshows, audio, interactive presentations, Adobe Flash demonstrations, animated graphics, rich multimedia objects and other things in addition to simple text. In addition to its Finance, Entertainment and Wikipedia search and discovery engines, SeeqPod has plans to launch search and discovery engines within a variety of other verticals with a focus on search results that are 'playable'. We believe that one day, most things on the Internet will be 'playable'. SeeqPod understands that today and in the future search results will need to be played in order for a user to determine if they're relevant. Does it cost anything? No. Similar to more basis search engines such as Google or Yahoo, there is no cost associated with SeeqPod's search engine. Registration of a SeeqPod account lets you store search results in personal podlists. The search results in the podlists can be shared with friends by emailing a link to the podlist or embedding a player and podlist in a web page with the SeeqPod Widget. Are search engines legal? Yes. SeeqPod is an information location tool. Although SeeqPod does not host content it encourages the adherence to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Along with Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, SeeqPod is a member of The Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) which advocates Fair Use of copyrighted content on the Internet and Free Speech. The CCIA legal team is supported by its members and has promoted the fact that Courts have repeatedly held that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the doctrine of Fair Use shield search engines from liability.
